SKODA Karoq

Skoda Karoq is a brand new compact SUV from the Czech car manufacturer which replaces the long-standing Yeti in their range.

Unlike the Yeti, the Karoq has more conventional styling that slightly resembles the Kodiaq from the face on.

The new SUV is, however, smaller than the Kodiaq measuring 4,382 mm in length, is 1,841 mm width, and 1,605 mm height.

Practicality seems to be at the rear of the new car which comes with a large 521-litre boot space which is expandable to 1,630-litres.

Each of the rear seats are separate and can be individually removed or completely taken out to create more room inside.

This then converts the car into a sort of minivan which boasts a maximum load capacity of 1,810-litres.

Karoq also offers a comprehensive range of driver assistance systems.

These include: Park Assist, Lane Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Blind Spot Detect, Front Assist and Emergency Assist.

Five engine variants are available with the new SUV - two petrol and three diesel.

The displacement ranges are 1.0, 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 l; the power range is from 85 kW (115 PS) to 140 kW (190 PS).

All powertrains are turbo-shared direct injections unit and come with start/stop technology and brake energy recovery. 

All drivetrains can be ordered with a six-speed manual gearbox to a seven-speed DSG.

The 2.0 TDI with 140 kW (190 PS) comes as standard with 4×4 drive and 7-speed DSG.

Prices for the all-new SUV have not yet been confirmed

Top of the range trim levels, Columbus and Amundsen, come with a Wi-Fi hotspot built in and an optional 4G LTE models is available on the former system.

The SmartLink+ platform, compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLinkTM, is available as an option for the basic infotainment system Swing.

The Karoq’s market launch is set for second half of 2017.
